About Me

Hi, my name is Chris Schmidt. I am a 21 year old recent graduate of the University of Missouri – Columbia.  I received my Bachelor’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing degree in December 2009.

I am the oldest child of Mitzi and Jeff Schmidt.  I was born and raised in Belleville, IL.  I attended Our Lady Queen of Peace grade school.  I then attended Althoff Catholic High School and graduated in 2006.  After Althoff, I enrolled at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS as an Early Entry Pharmacy student.  While at Ole Miss, I joined Beta Theta Pi fraternity and the student athletic group.  During the year, I realized that my heart was not into pharmacy, and I decided to transfer to the University of Missouri – Columbia.  At Mizzou, I joined the MUTV Marketing staff, Zou Crew, and Tau Sigma National Honors Fraternity.  I was also honored to be on the College of Business’ Dean’s List.

During my collegiate years, I have had two internships.  Both of these internships have been with Allsup Inc. located in Belleville.  While there I have worked on product research.  My main responsibility was to conduct research for two different products with the same department.  I also researched information to be uploaded to the company’s website to provide assistance to individuals in need.

I joined MUTV in 2007 in the newly formed Marketing Department.  At that point in time, there were only three members.  As of 2009, the Marketing Department had expanded to six.  After a year, I became the Director of Marketing for the organization, and I was responsible for the marketing campaigns of the station as well as the marketing team.  The main objective of the team was to increase viewer ship, brand identity, and brand awareness through strategic marketing campaigns.  Another goal was to use social media to drive consumers to the station’s website and channel.  During that time, I came up with the MUTV Guide.  The guide was distributed monthly through email and our website to all the students at the university.  The MUTV Guide allowed for advertising and branding and included information about the station and its members.

Currently, I am working part time for Kohl’s at their Fairview Heights, IL location learning how to run a department, organized a department layout, and extend excellent customer service to those shopping the store.  I have some interesting options coming up this summer so stay tuned.
